Virgin Fuels take a slice of Metrolight
Sir Richard Branson has invested £4.5 million in HID-dimming pioneer Metrolight. His recently formed Virgin Fuels subsidiary has taken a slice of the electronics specialists Metrolight, one of the first companies in the world to develop a working dimmer for metal halide lamps. Sir Richard Branson formed Virgin Fuels to invest in renewable energy and resource efficiency. "Inefficient lighting is one of the largest sources of energy waste," said Branson. "We invest in companies such as Metrolight that help reduce greenhouse gas emissions." "The Smart Electronic Ballast has the potential to save up to three per cent of the world's electricity consumption."
